Zahid Chaudhry, Co-Founder
Founded together — Melissa and Zahid Chaudhry are both listed as founding directors of Constitution Defenders.
Service. Sacrifice. Constitutional Courage.
Muhammad Zahid Chaudhry enlisted in the U.S. Military before September 11th. He served honorably. He was discharged with a service-connected disability. He volunteered as a firefighter and paramedic. He founded nonprofits to prevent veteran suicide. He did everything a person is supposed to do.
Then the system failed him. Years of federal overreach, surveillance, coercion, and detention followed — not because he had done anything wrong, but because he refused to be weaponized against innocent people. On December 22, 2025, after 124 days in federal detention — including solitary confinement — he was released by U.S. District Chief Judge David G. Estudillo, who called his detention "flat out wrong."
Constitution Defenders exists because that story should never have happened — and because it is still happening to others.
No person should have to become a constitutional test case to receive constitutional protection.
